The Sterile ProcessTech is directly responsible for ensuring surgical instruments and equipment issterilized using proper procedures and ensuring standards are met.

The Sterile ProcessTech is responsible for requisitioning all autoclaving supplies, instrumentsand implantable devices used in the daily operation of the department andequipment used in patient care. Performs all aspects of the sterilizationprocess including decontamination, assembly, packaging and the biological andchemical monitoring of the sterilizers and thorough documentation of theprocesses and results.

The Sterile ProcessTech acts as an important resource to the operating room staff and performsother job duties relevant to the position assigned.


High school diplomaor equivalent required.

Completion ofcertification course as a Sterile Processing Technician strongly preferred.


Previous experiencewith surgical instruments/equipment processing and terminology preferred.


Ability to followwritten/oral instructions and established procedures, and to give/receive oraland written communication. 

Ability to learn andretrain information. 

Basic computerskills. 

Ability to learnSterile Processing computer systems.
