RN - Senior Behavioral Health - PRN
The RN in the OroValley Hospital, Senior Behavioral Health Unit plans, directs, participates inand provides quality patient care for patients 45 years of age and older. This 17-bed specialty unit is for voluntary patientsonly.
The RN collaborateswith other disciplines including social workers, physicians, nursepractitioners, volunteers, activity and occupational therapists to provideoptimal, integrated care.
The RN evaluatesassigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Performsand documents various patient assessments and administers medications withinthe scope of practice of the registered nurse. The RN promotes each patient’sindependence by establishing specific patient care goals and teaching patientsand families to understand both mental health and medical conditions associatedwith the geriatric population. Supports the patient in maximizing self-careskills and reintegrating into the community. Relies on knowledge, compassion,experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
A wide degree ofcreativity, understanding, patience and acceptance is expected with thiscomplex gero-psychiatric population. Typically reports to a manager or head ofa unit/department.
Associate's Degreein Nursing or Diploma Program required, BSN preferred.
Minimum 2 years'previous clinical experience in behavioral health.
Ability to read,communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronicmeans. Previous computer experience andexcellent customer service skills. Ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload.
Current AZ RNlicense or compact state RN license
BLS certificationAmerican Heart Association (CPR)
Handle With Care(HWC) certification required within 30 days of start date
