The BHT works 12 hour shifts - night shifts starting at 630pm (1830)
The Behavioral Health Technician in the Senior Behavioral Health department at Oro Valley Hospital provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric adults with psychiatric disorders and ensures the safety and well-being of patients.
The BHT also monitors unit patients and completes rounds as assigned and participates in treatment planning by helping to identify patients' problems, needs & strengths, reports all areas of concern regarding patient's mental or physical status to the Charge Nurse.
The BHT also assists in obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personnel belongings, obtaining specimens and orienting new patients and carries out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department operations including taking and routing telephone calls.
High School or equivalent required.
Post High School vocational/specialized training preferred.
One (1) year experience in behavioral health or caring for the elderly.
Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means; excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload.
American Heart Association BLS (CPR)
Handle With Care (HWC) certification required within 30 days of start date, CPI for current employees (prior to 11/1/2016) will be valid until expiration date, then HWC must be obtained.
